VoiceOver will tell you what elements are on the screen as you move your fingers across it. When an element is selected, VoiceOver will speak the name or give the description of the item. If text is selected, VoiceOver will read the text. If a control button is selected and Speak Hint is turned on, VoiceOver will tell you the action of the item or give instructions for you to proceed e.g. “Double tap to open” etc. VoiceOver also plays a sound whenever you change screen.

With this new VoiceOver feature on the iPhone 3GS, it is even helping a new group of people to be able to make use of the iPhone 3GS – the visually impaired. This new feature makes the iPhone the “eye” phone to the visually impaired.
