As a citizen of the world, the iPhone Malaysia Bloggers acknowledge that performing community service is a way of giving back to the society that have so generously provided for us and would like to urge all our readers to do the same as well. It does not matter how big or small the contribution may be, it is the humble act and thoughts that matter. Below are some of the events that we have participated since we started this blog.

On the 10th October, 2010(Sunday), the iPhone Malaysia Bloggers participated in the Walk Into Light charity walk. This walk was inspired by the same walk held in the US called “Out of the Darkness”. One of the aim of the Walk Into Light is to raise funds for D’Home and Penang Care. The other objective of this walk is to increase public awareness towards the importance of maintaining mental health, and early detection and treatment of mental disorders so as to prevent future suicides. It is important to educate the public about the importance of prevention than cure, and how the participating NGOs can serve as point of reference, a sounding board for advice and support.

One of the key highlights of the walk is the participation of a 91 years old lady in the event. She has successfully completed the 3.5km walk without any issue and was awarded the certificate. Our hats off to her for taking good care of her health until the age of 91 and to be so fit as to participate in the 3.5km walk.

On the 3rd November 2010, the iPhone Malaysia Bloggers participated in the visit to Shan’s Children Home organized by PECC(Penang E-Community Club). PECC is a non-profit Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) registered with the Malaysian Registrar of Societies (ROS). Its main aim is to create awareness to the general public on the importance of the internet as a viable source of income.

Shan’s Children Home is a relatively new orphanage started in 2008. One of the main objective of the home is to provide shelter and rehabilitation to abandoned children as well as children from very poor family. Their mission is to rebuild broken lives and to provide them with an environment that ensures good health education and a bright future. The iPhone Malaysia Bloggers were truly amazed by how the children were raised at the home. They have been guided very well by Dr Chandran and his team of volunteers.
